Zonegran vs topamax for weight loss
I have found that I react badly to almost all generic meds but not to the brands. I heard the weightloss effect depends on the dose. I would go with the doc that wants to try something new. When I was dx with Migraines I was taking a sub-lingual pill called Maxalt (this does work) you have to take one tablet and place it under your tongue as you feel a migraine coming on. Its interesting how different meds can affect people so differently. He now has me taking one zonegran in morning and one in evening (I was taking both in evening) to see if that will help. Every drug works differently on every different person. I do try to give all the info I can but sometimes my delivery is harsh due to my frustration. I have tried MANY migraine meds and cannot tolerate most of them. My neurologist had me try Lyrica and Neurontin (also anti-seizure), and Neurontin was beneficial whilst Lyrica was not. I am currently take 200 mg of zonegran for migraines. Honestly, I feel that it is my duty to give out the information that I have. Your honesty, sense of humor and obvious knowledge of this drug was a joy to read. Good luck with your weight loss and also for I commend you for being a care giver. Right now he has me take one pill (100 mg) in the morning and the other before bed, to see if that will make a difference. I was prescribed 100 mg zonegran over a year ago. Not everyone reacts the same way to each and every drug, and doctors should know this. :). I only started losing a little weight at 75 mg. I have been on both topamax and zonegram.

When I read a post saying that someone tried bananas for the tingling and it worked - well, it just makes me stupidly happy. Honestly, I feel that it is my duty to give out the information that I have. My general practitioner would like to switch me to Topamax but the dr who prescribes me zonegran says they are so similar that the switch wont do me any. I have been fighting Migraines for the last 6 years mostly caused from stress from work. they are not the same, and they react differently with everyone whether positively or negatively. It will help lessen the pain with the migraine or sometimes will stop it. He said we can also increase the amount if it doesnt. But I wish the manufacture would just change the taste of the pill, its fast dissolve and strong peppermint taste. I only started losing a little weight at 75 mg.
